Other People's Heartache PART ONE

Many of you will have noticed that 'Bastille' have exploded onto the music scene as of the last few months, the band have even managed to release their debut album 'Bad Blood' at number 1 in the official UK top 40, but i'm not going to talk about that right now.

It is so very difficult to come across a strong indie rock mixtape these days. The mixtape i'm going to talk to you about does come from Bastille though; they are a four piece unit brought together by Frontman Dan Smith. Bastille excel where other indie bands don't at creating unique pieces of pure elegance, the production used on these mixtapes in particular might recycle other tips and tricks from other artists and producers, but they're done in a completely new, exciting way. The Mixtapes feature vocals from various cuts of Television and Films as spoken word underlining the songs, to give the music new meaning, new purpose and most importantly, more substance and what we are given is powerfully compelling.

I'm not going to give you a track by track review, because I want anyone who reads this post to form their own opinions about this incredible music, but I will talk about 2 of the 7 tracks on this mixtape, the rest, I want you to figure out on your own. I assure you, Other People's Heartache, Part One, will give you a reason to put faith into new artists like Bastille.

1) Track 4 - Of The Night
I'd be surprised if you've never heard the original of this song, if you haven't, I won't bore you with past examples because I want you to focus on this beauty instead.
Bastille's production is key for this track. Opening with what almost sounds like a warning alarm and an eerie echo, Smith's eloquent vocals creep in, over the twinkling backing before the drop kicks in and Smith takes full control of the track, vocals so captivating you accept the production for what it is and take in every word you hear. "THIS IS THE RHYTHM" Bursts in, edited into a deep, angry vocal btu then the contrast - "You can put some joy upon my face, oh sunshine in an empty place"where Smith reminds you this is his song, he's taking ownership and this is his re working of a classic. The 2 minute mark is my favourite person of this song, the verse "wont you teach me to love" is Bastille at their best, the listener is shown the insecure parts of the song but reminded that the singer is in fact in control, a strong contrast which ultimately creates an effortlessly powerful scene.

2) Track 3 - Requiem For Blue Jeans
This is my favourite track from the mixtape, a completely original remix of the Clint Mansell - Reqiuem for a dream soundtrack remixed in a beautiful fashion with Lana Del Rey's Blue Jeans. The backing music from Mansell's track with Lana Del Rey's lyrics, changed to suit the style of a man's perspective leaves us with a pure musical masterpiece that allows you to wear the persona and swagger of this song like your favourite pair of jeans. The way this song is portrayed almost definitely allows you to become the vocalist, you can tell the story, and isn't it one of the best to tell? Lana Del Rey's quirky arrogance is hard to be moulded and transformed into something of your own but Smith has managed to do it in a fashion that could quite best the original. Giving the song the slower backing production allows us to feel every moment with such an intensity that the 3 minute 57 second journey is so enticing that we don't quite want it to end, at least not so early on, please Bastille, can we have some more? Every moment in this song is just flawless. The opening is key as you don't just want to be listening to another cover that a 12 year old girl uploads to youtube screaming into her hairbrush thinking she's going to become the next Justin Bieber. It's Smith's portrayal of Lana's heartache and angst-y lyrics in this track that truely make this a standout on the mixtape, Lana Del Rey, I think you've got some competition because this is eloquence at its finest. Bastille are not just an exciting glimpse at what the future of music could be, they're possibly its saviour too.

Will.I.Am & Justin Bieber have got #ThatPower

Cover Art

Despite Justin Bieber's recent London behaviour, and claims that he won't be coming back to London,  he reminds us all "i'm alive, i'm alive, i'm alive" lending his vocals to Will.I.Am's new single "That Power" and Justin, we know you are and we're glad.

The track is true to Will.I.Am's slick production style, but its Justin's voice that makes this track the true beauty that it is, connecting the dance beat to a current and almost futuristic pop song, sure to win over all the Will.I.Am fans and of course all the Beliebers out there.
The "Second-Minute-Hour-Bigger-Better-Stronger-Power" moment in the first 52 seconds that leads us into Will.I.Am's vocals at the minute mark are incredibly reminiscent of Daft Pank's "Harder Better Faster Stronger" - Cleverly done Will, an opportunity to bring in new, older fans, clever.

I'd give this track a 9/10 as I would have liked to have heard some more of Justin's vocals here, sort of the same with Scream & Shout and Britney Spears, so far both Spears and now Bieber have lent their voices to Will.I.Am's single but maybe in future they could be given a bit more time on the tracks as Will's material can sometimes fall into the trap of sounding "samey", especially when the beat to this track does sound a little like Scream & Shout.

You can listen to the new Will.I.Am feat Justin Bieber single here but afterwards i'd listen to the daft punk single here to see what I mean too!

Bow Down Bitches!

Beyonce has FINALLY released her new single to the world 'Bow Down' can be found online here and it really is quite something. The track is urban and dare I say Beyonce is having a bit of a rap here? The synths and sounds are actually the track used in the current o2 adverts at the moment, comment below of what you think about the new single.

Taylor Swift is feeling 22 in her new video...she's 23 though, honest!

I don't know about you, but was this not the perfect release to follow the Harry Styles drama that has been circling Taylor's life?
The video to the new single '22' is just like the song; fun, light hearted, exciting and happy!

The video follows Taylor and friends enjoying being 22 and life and all that jazz, isn't that cute?
Swifty hasn't let us down with this one, the lyrics match parts of the video 'in the best way'. I quite enjoyed the subtle take on the 'dress like hipsters' line of the song and the oh so 'Instagram' border around the music video.

Hipster glasses for Taylor!

Taylor seems to have just had a load of fun with this video, reminding us that we don't quite know her properly, but we sure as hell want to
"You don't know about me, but I bet you want to" - you're right Taylor, I really do want to!
It's not as heavy as previous single 'I Knew You Were Trouble' and delivers in all the right places, the tune sticks in your head and I admit to having a cheeky dance in front of the mirror, if only I had a hairbrush!

'22' is the fourth single from Swift's album 'Red' and is set for release on April 1st.

Iggy Azalea shows us how to "WORK"

Australian model/singer/hip-hop genius/slick rapper Iggy Azalea has released the video to single "work"

Right now, I "pledge allegiance" to you Iggy.
The video to new single "work" out March 17th allows us to follow Iggy on a journey, we watch her stroll through trailer parks - or ride through on a bike lookin like a bit of a G, next we see Iggy in a bar giving a cheeky dance and finally we see her walking those Louboutins through Hollywood, she's made it! Watch below or here

Notable moments:
  • Iggy on a bike
  • The 'Head Over Heels' bit
  • Iggy's bangin' body the whole way through! There's a reason she's showin' that off!

Paramore release new lyric video for 'Still Into You'

Paramore have unveiled the new lyric video for a single off their upcoming self titled album 'Paramore' released April 9th. 'Still Into You' is a single where lead vocalist Hayley Williams sings
'Not A Day Goes By Where I'm Not Into You'
'Baby Even On The Worst Nights I'm Into You'
The single is definitely a step forward in terms of Paramore's music, they are certainly evolving and taking a different approach yet this is still very much Paramore.
I'm very excited to see whats next with this band as they have been away since their last LP 'Brand New Eyes' with the exception of a few singles including the Transformers soundtrack 'Monster' being available to buy on their website.
The lyric video is sweet and cute as hand puppets sing the lyrics to each other in a playful take on the video. It hasn't been confirmed if this is single number two or if this is a teaser for the album.

Justin Timberlake allows fans to stream ENTIRE album for FREE a WEEK before release! FREE!

Justin Timberlake has given fans the option to stream his entire new album, the 20/20 Experience for FREE on iTunes!

All you have to do is go onto the iTunes Store, click on Justin's face and press the 'play now' button on this screen:

The album is certainly worth listening to, personal favourites are; 'Suit & Tie', 'Mirrors', 'Let The Groove Get In', 'That Girl' and the very Timbaland Style 'Dont Hold The Wall'

In His Suit & (BOW) Tie
This album has proved Justin has grown up a LOT since his previous album, there may be a track by track review up soon too! Each song is around the 7 minute mark, so as long as fans are okay with these lengthy songs or radio edits are available, I predict commercial success.

Kelly Rowland reveals new video for 'Kisses Down Low'

Kelly Rowland has released the official music video for her new single 'Kisses Down Low'
The video is very colourful and coy whilst Kelly oozes sex appeal, the colours in the video almost offers a complete contrast from the sexual focus of the song, Rowland sings

"I like my kisses down low,
 makes me arch me back,
when you give it to me slow,
when you do it like that"

You can see the video below or click here!

Kelly Rowland is in excellent shape, she also sports many different hairstyles including a cropped red do similar to that from the days of Destiny's Child and a cute dip dye fading from black to a pink hue!

'Kisses Down Low' will is taken from Kelly's upcoming album titled 'Talk A Good Game' which is set to be released later this year.

Cara Delevingne for Burberry Body Tender

'It Girl Cara Delevingne"

A name that has been on many lips this year is Cara Delevingne, Cara is sister to socialite Poppy Delevingne and has been taking the modelling world by storm! Delevingne has already walked every major runway there is this season, scored some pretty decent ad campaigns and even had a few Vogue Covers!
The 20 year old model has somehow managed to squeeze in Burberry Body - Tender to her overflowing schedule and has become the face of the campaign! The model has indeed worked for Burberry before but being the face of a fragrance is seen as a step up!
The New Fragrance For Women
The clip itself shows the gorgeous model floating down the River Thames in London on an intimate looking boat wearing nothing but, of course The Burberry Trench and not much else! The ad is incredibly romantic and see's the model pulling some rather beautiful and sultry faces as she floats down the Thames being all Beautiful and posey.

I'd say this is one of many positive career steps that will ensure we'll be seeing a lot more of Cara next season, both on the runway and on the covers of every major magazine out there!

Pictures of the campaign can be seen below and you can watch the official ad campaign above!

Megan Fox waves white flag to Michael Bay

Megan Fox - Jennifer's Body Actress

Michael Bay announced that he was "bringing Megan Fox back into the family" on his official website on Thursday, you can see this here it really has been confirmed!

The pair fell out when Fox made a few controversial comments regarding the director. So it has come as quite a surprise to learn, according to a source “It was Megan that made the first move to talk with Michael"

The source continued "Since Transformers Megan hasn't been getting the leading lady roles she had hoped for and was starting to get concerned it was down to what she had said about Bay"

"So, she swallowed her pride, picked up the phone and spoke with him to clear the air and apologize. She told him how thankful she was to have been casted by him in the first place, and that she was totally out of line to say what she said."

It was during the press tour of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen that Fox told Wonderland magazine
"He wants to be like Hitler on his sets, and he isSo he’s a nightmare to work for, but when you get him away from set, and he’s not in director mode, I kind of really enjoy his personality because he’s so awkward, so hopelessly awkward.

However! The 26-year old mother of one will now be reuniting with the Director for a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Movie! The release date had originally been planned for May 16, 2014 but has since been pushed back three weeks to June.

Are you looking forward to a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Reboot? Comment, let me know!
